The singer has partnered with Bilt for the company's October Rent Day initiative, a program that will cover housing costs for 50 college students across the country. The move comes as Legend reflects on his own time in school, when money was tight and every dollar mattered.

Before he became a household name, Legend was a student at the University of Pennsylvania, where he balanced coursework with a demanding schedule of gigs and side jobs. He has spoken before about the grind of those years, describing how he pieced together income from performances and other work to stay afloat.
