Directors Keep Dues Steady, Elect 2027 Leadership

Directors Keep Dues Steady, Elect 2027 Leadership

The association's board of directors voted to keep membership dues at their current level for the coming fiscal year, rejecting a proposed increase that had been under review since the fall. The decision came during the board's quarterly meeting on Tuesday, where members also elected the slate of officers who will lead the organization through 2027.

The dues freeze was the most straightforward action of the session. More contentious was a proposed revision to the Standard of Practice under Article 1 of the bylaws. The amendment, which sought to clarify how agents disclose material facts during dual-agency transactions, drew nearly 45 minutes of debate. Several directors argued the language was too vague, while others said it imposed new liability on listing brokers without clear benefit to consumers. The board ultimately voted to refer the proposal back to the professional standards committee for further refinement.

In leadership elections, the board confirmed a new chair, vice chair, and secretary-treasurer for the 2027 term. The incoming chair, a broker from the downtown office who has served on the board since 2020, emphasized a focus on technology adoption and member education. The vice chair is a commercial property specialist, and the secretary-treasurer is a longtime residential agent who previously chaired the finance committee.

The meeting adjourned after two hours, with the next regular session scheduled for early June.
