The Financial Regulatory Authority has released the second edition of the Egyptian Real Estate Valuation Standards, marking the first major revision in more than 11 years. The update aims to improve how non-bank financial markets operate and to raise the quality and dependability of valuation work tied to economic activity at both the local and national level.
The new standards respond to years of change in the property market, including shifting prices, new financing tools, and growing demand for transparent assessments. Officials said the revised framework gives valuers clearer rules and tighter consistency, which should help banks, investors, and regulators rely on property appraisals when making decisions.
The authority also pointed to the role of accurate valuation in protecting market stability. Weak or outdated methods can distort asset values, mislead lenders, and create risk across the financial system. By updating the standards, the regulator expects fewer disputes and stronger confidence among institutions that use real estate as collateral or as an investment.
Training and compliance will follow the rollout, with valuation firms expected to align their internal procedures with the new edition. The move is part of a broader effort to modernize oversight and bring local practice closer to international norms. Market participants will be watching how quickly the changes take hold in daily operations.
