Dakota Johnson has officially parted ways with the Los Angeles property that served as her home base during the "Fifty Shades of Grey" era. The actress sold the midcentury modern residence for just under $6 million, finding a buyer within days of listing it.
The house, which Johnson purchased in 2017 for roughly $4 million, was a significant step up from her previous rental. It became a personal sanctuary during the whirlwind of press tours and film shoots that followed the blockbuster franchise. The sale price came in slightly below the initial $6 million asking price, but the quick turnaround suggests strong interest in the unique architectural property.
Set in the hills above Los Feliz, the home was originally built in the 1960s and retains much of its original character. Floor-to-ceiling windows flood the open-plan living spaces with natural light, while the outdoor area features a pool and mature landscaping that offers privacy from neighbors. Johnson had updated the interiors during her ownership, blending vintage furniture with modern art pieces.
The actress, who recently starred in "Madame Web" and "The Lost Daughter," has been streamlining her real estate portfolio. She still owns a New York City apartment and another property in Los Angeles. The sale of this particular home closes a chapter that began when she was just breaking into Hollywood's A-list. For now, the new owner gets a piece of midcentury history with a dash of Hollywood glamour attached.
